What Are the Benefits of a Heat Pump?
Heat Pumps offer countless advantages and are a better option than traditional air conditioning & heating systems. You will have a greener home and cut down on your energy bills to a significant extent by a heat pump. Heat pumps provide you with benefits such as:
More energy and money saving: As mentioned previously, heat pumps are highly energy-efficient and run on electricity. It makes them one of the best choices for saving both money and energy.
2-in-1 heating and cooling system: This is one of the best benefits of heat pumps; they keep your home warm during the winter and cool during the summer. It means you don’t need to spend money on two separate appliances.
Long-lasting cooling and heating systems: A heat pump can approximately work for 15 years, providing numerous benefits and affordable year-round home comfort.
AIR-SOURCE HEAT PUMPS
The Efficiency Problem: Heating/Cooling is Wasteful
Heating and cooling air is much more difficult than moving it.
Electric/oil/gas furnaces and ACs change the temperature of air to raise or lower the temperature in your home, while heat pumps move existing air from elsewhere, which takes a lot less energy.
1 – Require Both an A/C and a Furnace
Need a separate heating unit to use in your home during the colder months.
Heat pumps do the job of both units.
2 – Maintenance is Expensive
Filters and coils in A/C units need to be cleaned regularly. Without maintenance, they can fail.
Heat pumps require minimal maintenance.
WHY HEAT PUMPS ARE SUPERIOR
An air-source heat pump is has a greater than 100% efficiency, and can reach up to 400% in very mild weather4. Meaning it would product 4 units of heat energy for 1 unity of electricity consumed.
Minimal Maintenance
Air source heat pumps only require one yearly maintenance, so you don’t have to spend too much on it.
Carbon Footprint
Reduce wasted energy as heat pumps do not burn any fossil fuel when in use.
Two Systems in One
Both heating & cooling systems in one device, so you can use either depending on the season.
Long Lasting
Heat pumps are easy to install and easily function well for 15 to 20 years, if maintained well.
HOW DO DUCTED HEAT PUMPS WORK?
- The heat pump on the outside of your home circulates refrigerant.
- When it’s cold outside, heat pump transfers outside heat
- A blower moves air through the furnace to warm air that’s sent
through your ducts.
- The cold refrigerant is sent back to the heat pump outside so the process can repeat to warm your home.
- When it’s warm outside, the heat pump reverses direction and acts like an air conditioner, removing heat from your home.
